New York Times: Senate approves bill to curb class action lawsuits

In an effort to hit trial lawyers and their clients, generally the public, the Senate approved a bill to curb class action lawsuits. This bill may directly affect the ability of millions of Vioxx, Celebrex and Bextra users who have been injured by coxib drugs. It will also make it difficult for consumers to sue companies that harm them. Under the guise of eliminating "frivolous" lawsuits, this bill appears to also affect "meritorious" lawsuits.
